Who is James DeMenna?

Born in a small town on the South Shore of Massachusetts, DeMenna spent his early years as a child. After many formative adolescent experiences, the then eighteen year-old said his goodbyes and flew the coop* to the nearby city of Boston to attend Emerson College, where he earned a degree in Media Arts Production with a concentration in Writing for Television and Film.

Immediately upon receiving his diploma, unsure of a career in screenwriting, the graduate pivoted towards another creative endeavor he always wanted to pursue — woodworking and furniture design. Finding jobs at woodshops in both Boston, MA and Brooklyn, NY, the young craftsman additionally achieved success working as a freelancer where he designed and built furniture and objects for clients across the nation.

During this time, you might have also found DeMenna spending his nights performing stand-up comedy at open mics and shows across New York City. While immersed in comedy, DeMenna hosted a stand-up and live music show, wrote and performed a personal solo show, as well as hosted, produced and edited a comedy conversational podcast.

“So now, where can I find James DeMenna?”

If you're exceptionally lucky, you might catch the 27 year-old sitting upright in a midcentury dining room chair by his kitchen window, breathing in the morning air in between sips of coffee that are too hot. He writes in a 5x8 Black Moleskine Cahier, anything from grocery lists to headlines, from insights to concepts. See, for the past 15 months, DeMenna has dedicated his time studying the craft of copywriting at Denver Ad School. And after closing his time out west, he’s ready to head back east and get to work.

The author wrote the above copy in the third person to give the illusion that the job was outsourced. It was not.
